NAMESAKE: The Ghost Town of Lajitas
County of Brewster, Texas
Lajitas is on the Rio Grande River, Texas. During the 1920's it was the import site of a plant growing in Mexico that was used in the manufacture of chewing gum. Later Mexico banned its exportation and the town declined.  Mexican bandit Pancho Villa once roamed there.
