GHOST TOWN NAMESAKE: Calico, California
Calico was developed in 1881 during the largest silver strike in California. It gets its name from the myriad of colors that are part of the mountains which are the backdrop for the town. Calico boomed during 1881-1896. Some believe that Calico is haunted by the spirits of miners.
